Gyaru Advice: 001

I decided this is a good way to do something productive while I still work/wait to get a good couple of outfits together. And there aren't many places that cater to plus size gyaru, and some new Gals who are plus size probably want to join the community, but are worried. Mostly because they don't want to be posted on G_S and be cruelly told they're too fat to be gyaru.
So I will stop with a body shape that I have. Which is an apple shape. An Apple shaped woman usually has, a lard mid section, and rounded or broad shoulders. Wide back. And generally have flat buts. Our assets are usually our legs and arms, and sometimes large breasts. For the sake of the keeping this informative and straight forward, I won't delve into how to dress for each substyle, because even apple shaped women are different person to person. But I will lay out the basics.

Here are some ideas, for the types of shirts/blouses/tops Apple shaped women can wear.

Trapeze and Shift Tops. These are good for hiding the midsection. A tip about these as with any other blouse for those who want to hide the belly is that the top must hit at the hip or about an inch or two above the crotch. With the exception of tunics. To give these floaty tops a bit more definition adding a belt to the smallest part of your torso is great.

Great banded top which we will touch on a little later.

Banded tops. Aside from the one example above, this is another banded top. It's loose enough to hide the mid section but comes in at the bottom.

Loose long sleeve blouses, follow the same rules as the as the trapeze and shift tops.
( Another great sleeve length is 3/4 sleeve or even a half sleeve.

Let's talk dresses. Now the same tops above can be found in similar in silhouettes, whether it's mini/tunic length or modest couple inches above the knee. The empire waist is great for apple shaped waist whether it's a simple top a dress. Below are a few examples.  A-line or flared are best for empire waist tops, especially with a little gathering. A-line, flare and circle shapes are nice for dresses.

Of course if you don't want to show your legs and it's too hot for leggings, A maxi dress is always in style.

One more point on tops I want to make is the oversized top trend that is going on. Don't thing that you can't participate. While I wouldn't suggest going without a bra especially if you're bust. Cami's can be your best friend. If you want to spice it up and still have support, find a halter style bikini top. Again you want to make sure that these hit either at the hip or an inch or two above the crotch.

For Cardigan, Blazers and Coats. The hip line is the best place for thee items to hit you.
Thin cardigans are the best option with either a tie or single button just under the bust.

Blazers with good structure are fantastic as well. Single button under the bust are  fantastic here as well. Steer clear of double breasted blazers as they can make you look larger. And a V line will look better here than a scoop line.

Lines lines lines. Necklines are important .
V-Neckline Whether modest or plunging. It's a great way to make your look longer and leaner. But it's not the only neckline to consider.

The scoop, square and sweetheart are great options for necklines as well.

Let's talk bottoms. Yes there are even rules for the lower half of our bodies girls. Starting with Pants.
Jeans or Slacks here are a few rules. The rise must be mid level, meaning just  below the navel. Or at the hip. Remember these are just the basics. Straight leg, boot cut and wide leg are great for various kinds of shoes. Sneakers to heels. This helps to our lower halves a bit better. As far as trousers are concerned, nothing with a front pleat.
Trouser Jeans are a great way to have clean lines, but not quite as dressy as slacks.

If you like skinny jeans, they're best work with boots that will go over them and still look well balanced.

But what about skirts. Now they can be a little tricky, but good skirts to look for are A-line/flared skirts. And even circle skirts.
Shorts can vary from person to person as well. An inch to a few inches above the knee is a great length.

Be careful with  pleating. at the waist if you were to wear this higher than your navel where is located. You don't want the lines to cut you directly in half if the line is on the largest part of your torso instead of your smallest part. Doing so will make you appear larger than you are. Even though our waist  can be hard to define. Just find where your waist comes in naturally.

Knee length or 2-3 inches above the knee are great to show off the legs. Leggings/stockings are great if you don't want to show bare skin, and if it's too hot for either a maxi skirt works well.

Now. To the bare minimums. Start with a great foundation.
Shape ware can be your best friends. to pull you in and help your posture. Choose shape ware to fit the outfit you are planning to wear. Full body is one of the best. But a good cincher should also be included, for some variety and to give a rest to other under garments. These are especially important if you wear heels. Because most of the weight in the stomach of  apple shaped women, it can ruin a look pretty quickly since it has a tendency to hang. Also good to have if the rise of your pants or skirts are at hip level. Always have a good bra, but that doesn't really need to be said.

I hope that this helps. Remember these are just basics from my research and can be modified to fit the individual. If you would like to see more, please let me know.
